From Press Reports
Cardiac rehabilitation may benefit you if you have had any cardiac event such as a heart attack, cardiovascular disease, heart failure or a cardiac procedure such as angioplasty or heart surgery. You may also benefit from the program if you have an abnormal heart rhythm or an implantable device such as pacemaker or debifrilator.
This program can improve your ability to carry out activities of daily living, reduce your heart disease risk factors, improve your quality of life, improve your outlook on life and your emotional stability, which will likely increase your ability to manage your disease.
Cardiac rehab meets three times a week for 12 weeks. During this time you have an opportunity to participate in an individualized and medically approved exercise program while being monitored continuously, learn healthy eating practices from a registered dietician and benefit from educational tips on the effects of cardiovascular disease as it relates to your condition. In short, you improve your physical health and learn ways to help prevent the occurrence of future cardiovascular episodes. You may also have the opportunity to interact with others who have similar cardiovascular conditions.
The Cardiac Rehab program at NMMC-Eupora is approved by most insurance companies. To determine whether your insurance will pay for you to participate, you may call Glenda Chandler or the rehab department at 258-9372. A physician’s referral is needed before beginning the program.
