Thunderstorm leaves wind damage

A severe thunderstorm caused wind damage and power outages north of Eupora Friday evening. No injuries were reported.

The Eupora Fire Department responded to a tree on a residence with downed power lines on Mississippi 9 a mile north of the city, a transformer fire behind a residence on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and a tree and power lines down on Crowley Road.

The fire department received all three calls within minutes of each other, beginning around 5 p.m.

Agencies responding in the storm’s aftermath included the EFD, Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Webster County Emergency Management Agency, Natchez Trace Electric Power Association and Webster County supervisors.
