The town of Maben will be having a “Johnthan Banks Day” at 10 a.m. Saturday at the W.O. “Bill” Shivers Park pavilion next to the library on Main Street (Second Avenue).

The honoree grew up in Maben and played high school football for the East Webster Wolverines. Banks later played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, contributing heavily to a successful football program there. He is now set to play professional football with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This will be a day for people to come out and meet and honor one of their own.

The town of Maben will be serving free barbecue pork sandwiches until the food is gone.

People are encouraged to come out to the park, bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the day.
