The Mister & Miss Independence Beauty Pageant will be June 29 at Eupora High School’s Latham Auditorium.
The Eupora High School cheerleaders are sponsoring the pageant, which is open to girls 0-18 and boys 0-10.
Registration deadline is June 21. The registration fee is $30; photogenic, $10. Registration forms may be obtained online by going to the EHS homepage: www.webstercountyschools.org/subsite/ehs.
The Civic League of Mathiston will sponsor karaoke in Mathiston’s Park this Friday, June 21. Grilled hotdogs, chips and drinks will be available for $5/plate plus candy bars and cookies beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Karaoke will start at 6:30 p.m. If you want to sing, please come and if you don’t want to sing, just come watch. It’s great family entertainment for all ages! The Civic League will have music for everyone from Southern gospel, old and new country, old rock and traditional songs.

Johnthan Banks Day
The town of Maben will be having a “Johnthan Banks Day” at 10 a.m. June 22 at the W.O. “Bill” Shivers Park pavilion next to the library on Main Street (Second Avenue).
Banks grew up in Maben and played high school football for the East Webster Wolverines. He later played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and has been drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The town of Maben will be serving free barbecue pork sandwiches until the food is gone. People are encouraged to come out to the park to honor one of their own, bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the day.
A gospel singing will be at the Cowboy Church in Vaiden at 6 p.m. June 22. The church is located at 1557 CR #5.
The Master’s Quartet of Booneville, Crossville Quartet of Pearl (formerly Pearl River Quartet), Chuck Clark of Iuka, Joy Card and Linda Odom will perform. The 2013 Summer Reading Program is every Monday in June at the Mathiston Public Library from 1-2:30 p.m.
The theme is “Dig into Reading.” For more information call 263-4772.
The final Summer Reading Program session at Webster County Library will be June 25. Ms. Bonnie and the library staff will be reading about pirates and digging for treasures.
The program begins at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for children ages 3-10 .
The 33st annual Gore Family Reunion will be June 29 at the Springhill School House located on Highway 404.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m., including review of family memorabilia and genealogy. Please bring any pictures and information you would like to display and share.
The Gore Brothers Jazz Trio from Houston will provide music starting at 11 a.m. and lunch will be at noon [cost $10].
After lunch a genealogy presentation of the Gore family history will be presented by Keith Gore Wiseman, son of Bettie Gore Wiseman and grandson of Will Abe “Red” Gore of Walthall.
Ezekiel Fletcher Gore, ancestor of many of the Gores, was the Methodist pastor of Greensboro from 1865-69.

J.D. Schaefer, Tom Schaefer and Lorene Schaefer Cummins invite all descended family, all extended family and all family friends of the Peter Joseph Schaefer family to an old-fashioned family reunion at the old home place of Antley Joe Schaefer and Thera Doshie Goines Schaefer Burns in Ticky Bend.
Family reunion dinner will be 1 p.m. July 6; a fish fry is planned. Bring a dish/dessert/beverage and a lawn chair if possible. Make plans to stay and visit family and friends the entire day. Bring any family history you may have.
EHS Class of
The Eupora High School Class of 1968 will celebrate its 45th class reunion on Aug. 3 at the Eupora Country Club.
The agenda includes a tour of EHS at 4 p.m., social hour at the country club at 5 and dinner at 6:30. All classmates are encouraged to attend this fun-filled day.
Eupora peewee football/cheerleader registration will be July 15-Aug. 9 at Eupora City Hall.

The Mathiston Public Library has Story Hour and activities for children of all ages every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story Hour is directed by Jill Carroll.

Fame Church of God
Fame Church of God will have homecoming services on June 23. Services will begin at 10 am. The Rev. Harmon Smith, brother of pastor Ken Smith, will deliver the morning message. Singing will follow after lunch.
Calvary Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 through grade 6 from June 24-28 from 6 till 8 p.m. to discover “God’s Amazing Wonders.”

The Webster County Baptist Association will host a special Patriotic Celebration at 5 p.m. June 30 at First Baptist Church of Mathiston. The event will feature choir and orchestra members from churches throughout Webster County for this annual event.

World Harvest Outreach Ministries will have a youth service at 6 p.m. June 30. Garrett Oswalt will be the speaker.
