Center water system issues boil-water alert

From Staff Reports

The Webster Center Water Association has issued a boil-water alert until further notice because of a loss in water pressure.

Billy Smith, president of the water system, issued the advisory Tuesday night. He said water pressure was lost as the result of a large leak in a slough off Mt. Vernon Road.

All customers are advised to boil their drinking water until adequate pressure is restored to the system. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute for the following: cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks feeding pets, washing dishes and all other consumption.

The Mississippi State Department of Health had not issued an official boil-water notice for the water system as of publication.
