The Civic League of Mathiston is pleased to announce our Biggest Loser winner, Tommy Phelps of Mathiston.

He is married to LeighAnn and they have two daughters, Carley and Candis, all of Mathiston.

Tommy lost a grand total of 42.6 pounds and had the highest percentage lost of 16.78 percent. When we asked him about his experience, he told us about having to overcome a foot injury that inhibited his exercise routine, and that dieting and exercise (at least an hour a day) was the key to his weight loss.

Phelps also said “I’m going to do my best to lose 20 more pounds and I hope to maintain my weight loss and I also hope to participate in the 5K in Ackerman (which was June 1).”

Coming in second with weight loss is Cynthia Williams of the Sherwood community with a weight loss of 40 pounds and a percentage lost of 10.97 percent, and Kris Bell of the Mathiston area with a weight loss of 39.4 pounds and a percentage lost of 15.27 percentage.

The Biggest Loser winner was determined by who lost the largest percentage overall. We wish Tommy the very best in his ongoing weight loss and if you see him around, tell him what a great job he’s doing.

We wish all of the ones who participated in our first-ever Biggest Loser contest the best of luck in their weight loss also. Way to go Tommy, Cynthia and Kris!

Phelps receives his prize money for losing the largest percentage of weight loss from Civic League President Betty Jeffcoats.
