The Webster Progress-Times
Sometimes a week off isn’t the best thing for a sports team to have.
East Webster head softball coach Lee Berryhill hopes his team can
shake off any rust that may have gathered since the last time they
have played, as they get ready to take on Bruce in a best-of-three
series in the MHSAA Class 2A State Fast-PItch Playoffs on Friday
The 16-5 Lady Wolverines will have gone 11 days without playing a
game by the time they visit the homestanding Lady Trojans at 5 p.m.
on Saturday. The two teams will play at 1 p.m. Saturday at East
Webster, with the third game of the series to be played immediately
after Saturday’s first game, if needed.
“To win we just have to make routine plays and hit consistently,”
Berryhill said. “If we can do that, we should be okay.”
Bruce defeated Coahoma County in a play-in series to earn the spot
against East Webster.
The two teams played earlier in the year, with EW taking the win.
“They have got a little speed,” he said. “The pitching is going to be
the key. You really don’t know what to expect in a situation like this.”
