From Press Reports
Mark your calendars. … Get your plans made! It’s time for our Relay
for Life event, which will be April 26 from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. at
North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora’s walking track.
All of the Relay teams are working feverishly to finish all of their
planned activities during this next week. In addition, they are in
the process of finalizing their plans for Relay night. It will be an
event you don’t want to miss.
There is going to be something for everyone — from preschool ages to
what we fondly called mature adults. You think you might want it,
we’ll have it available.
There will be gospel singing, high school ensembles and bands from
East Webster and Eupora, church groups, and a multitude of other
talented groups and individuals. You will find many children’s
activities and plenty of fun things for them to do.
James Rico, Bob Jones and David Dabbs will be “manning” the grills
for the hospital team. You have to try the third-of-a-pound Angus
beef burgers with “bonafide” Vidalia onions! You don’t like
hamburgers or hot dogs? That’s OK. We will have jambalaya, tacos in a
bag, pizza, homemade desserts and many other goodies. By the way, we
heard the JAIL was being moved to the walking track. You had better
be on your best behavior or you may find yourself looking for someone
to bail you out sometime during the night! All in fun, of course. The
(temporary) jail will be furnished for us by Mathiston Baptist Church.
Lots of fun … for a serious issue that has touched the lives of so
many here in this community. We will have a special time for the
survivors to walk the track as we celebrate the blessing of life for
them. We will also have a special time commemorating those who have
lost their battles with cancer, continue their battles today or have
been declared cancer free. You may purchase luminarias, lanterns or
torches from the Relay for Life team.
Make your plans now. Remember, cancer is with us every day. In fact,
CANCER NEVER TAKES A HOLIDAY!
