Jerry D. Ferguson Sr.

Services for Jerry D. Ferguson Sr. were April 10, 2013, at Morgan
Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
He was born April 14, 1944, to the late Rufus and Myrtle Edwards
Ferguson in Sunflower County. Mr. Ferguson was a farm manager for
Mississippi State University and was a veteran of the U.S. Army,
having served in Vietnam and Iraq. He attended Morgan Chapel Baptist
Church. He died April 7, 2013, at his home near Sturgis.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Ferguson of Sturgis; a son, Jerry
Ferguson Jr.; a daughter, Angie Forrester of Starkville; three
brothers, J.E. Ferguson of Illinois, John Ferguson of Corinth and
Henry Ferguson of Arcola; three sisters, Evelyn Reimers of Saltillo,
and Zay White and Eva Blankenship of Chalemette, La.; and six
Memorials may be made to the Morgan Chapel Baptist Church Youth
Department or The Baptist Children’s Village.
Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Allene Matthews Griffin

Graveside services for Allene Matthews Griffin, 92, of Eupora,
formerly of Winona, were April 4, 2013, at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona
with the Rev. Roger Miller officiating.
She was the daughter of the late John and Clyde Carpenter Matthews.
Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker and a Baptist. She died March 28, 2013,
at Golden LivingCenter-Eupora.
Survivors include four daughters, Cathy Brett of Springfield, Mo.,
Cindy Gibson of Yukon, Okla., Gloria Steed of Winona and Greta
Griffin of Kosciusko; a son, Wade Griffin of Holly Springs; 10
grandchildren and give great-grandchildren.
Oliver Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of arrangements.

James Robert Ward
April 5, 2013
Services for James Robert Ward, 78, were April 7, 2013, at Oliver
Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with the Revs. Tim Hudson and Buddy
Pepper officiating. Burial was in Clarkson Cemetery.
A retired farmer, Mr. Ward was born in Calhoun County and was a
member of Hohenlinden Baptist Church. He died April 5, 2013, at North
Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Ward of Eupora; two daughters,
Sarah Akins of Mantee and Brenda Golding of Woodland; a son, Jamey
Ward of Eupora; sisters, Opal Smith of Eupora, Minnie Chandler and
Margaret Cockell of Woodland, Stella Hollis of Columbus, Bobbie
Harris of Tupelo, Ruth Lancaster of Southaven; two brothers, Ray Ward
of Woodland and Gene Ward of Eupora; four grandchildren and five
Pallbearers were Clay Coleman, Barry Dendy, Wallace Fortner, Albert
McDowell, Tim Parker and Fred “Buzz” Vickers.
