Luminaria bags available for Relay

For the Progress-Times

Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back. This message of the American Cancer
Society echoes around the table of the seven cancer survivors in the
accompanying photo. These special ladies share a background of
surgery, doctors’ visits and treatments; but they also share a future
filled with optimism and HOPE!

The luminaria bags in front of them are not only symbols of HOPE but
also reminders of the Luminaria Ceremony held during Webster County’s
Relay for Life, which will be April 26.

For a donation of $10, a bag will be made in honor of or in memory of
a loved one. The candles in the luminaria bags will be lit before the
9 p.m. Luminaria Ceremony, and they will illuminate the darkened sky
offering encouragement and HOPE for all those touched by cancer.

Forms for these bags are located in businesses and churches
throughout the county; for more information, contact Frances Hyde at
258-8428 or 552-0705.

All survivors are encouraged to join in the survivors walk beginning
at 6 p.m. the night of Webster County’s fifth annual Relay for Life
event. For more information about the survivors walk contact
survivors chairman, Carol Hillhouse at 258-8489.
