School Board members recognized

From Press Reports

Gov. Phil Bryant proclaimed the week of Feb. 17-23 as School Board
Members Recognition Week in Mississippi.
Members of the Webster County School Board are Bobby McMullen
(president),
Nancy Davis, Scott Hollenhead, Jimmy Hood and Keith Hudspeth.

The proclamation urged all citizens to join Bryant in recognizing
local school board members for their work in ensuring a quality
education system, and ultimately in helping foster a strong, viable
Mississippi economy. It further reads:

“Whereas, children in today’s classrooms are Mississippi’s future
citizens and leaders; and
“Whereas, the sustained viable economic, social and intellectual
capital of the state rests upon the deliberate preparation of
students to live and lead in Mississippi, and
“Whereas, local school board members are charged with providing
effective governance to ensure that programs and resources are in
place for educating students to become responsible citizens and
innovative leaders; and
“Whereas, school board members engage parents, education
professionals, business leaders and other community members in
achieving success for students; and
“Whereas, local school board members are accountable to the community
for quality education; and
“Whereas local school board members work diligently to promote high
expectations for student achievement among parents and the community;
and
“Whereas, School Board Member Recognition Week in Mississippi
provides an opportunity to celebrate and encourage the men and women
who champion the cause of public education as school board members in
communities across the state.”
