The East Webster fast-pitch softball team will be carrying a three-
game winning streak into its home match-up with league foe Hamilton
on Thursday night.
The Lady Wolverines took an 8-3 win over South Pontotoc last
Thursday, then opened this week with a 15-3 win over Bruce on Monday
and a 15-2 victory over Weir on Tuesady.
“Right now we are playing pretty good at times, but we are just a
little inconsistent,” said EWHS head coach Lee Berryhill. “For us to
get better, we just have to play well on a more consistent basis.”
Autumn Frost had three hits for EW in the win over South Pontotoc,
while Mamie Hollenhead had a single and a double. The Lady Wolverines
scored five runs in the fourth the fifth and three in the sixth to
break open a tight game. Bailie Springfield was the winning pitcher
for East Webster.
The Lady Wolverines cracked out 16 hits against Bruce, despite
getting off to a slow start.
Kerrigan Clark had two doubles and a single for East Webster, while
Frost and Alaina Hill each had a homer and single for the winners.
Hollenhead had three singles, while Springfield tossed a five-hitter.
East Webster had little trouble in the win over Weir.
“We really just worked on things like slap-hitting,” Berryhill said.
“Everybody played pretty well.”
After the division opener with Hamilton on Thursday, the Lady
Wolverines will take the Easter weekend off before traveling to
Houston to take on Mooreville at 11 a.m. on Monday.
