The Lady Wolverines of East Webster fought back after falling behind
6-0 to Nanih Waiya on Tuesday, but came up just short of a 7-5 score.
“It was a good game,” said East Webster head fast-pitch softball
coach Lee Berryhill. “We made a couple mistakes on the bases and a
couple of errors that hurt us in the third inning, but overall it was
a well played game.”
Mamie Hollenhead of EWHS had a huge night at plate, going four-for-
four with a homer. Autumn Frost also had two hits for the Lady
Nanih Waiya scored two runs in the first inning behind a two-run
homer from Ryan Holdiness, then hit for four in the third to go up
6-0. EWHS scored one in the third and two in the fourth to cut it to
6-3. The two teams swapped runs in the fifth, before Hollenhead’s
solo homer made the final score 7-5.
The 6-3 Lady Wolverines travel to South Pontotoc on Thursday at 6
p.m. for a game that begins a four-game road trip. East Webster
visits Calhoun City at 6 p.m. on Friday, before traveling to Bruce on
Monday and Weir on Tuesday.
The next home game for the Lady Wolverines is Thursday, March 28,
when they play host to Hamilton at 6 p.m.
