EHS powerlifting team members advance

The Eupora High School powerlifting team, under the direction of
Coach Chad White, competed in the regional powerlifting meet Feb. 9.

The Eagles performed well at this competition, earning the title of
Region 2-2A champions and advancing to the North Half competition on
March 2 in Calhoun City.

Here the Eagles again showed what they were made of by placing third
in the North State championships, with seven team members advancing
to the state championships, which will be April 13.

The seven advancing team members are Timothy Austin, Rusty Johnson,
Javoris Draine, Savon Daughtery, Tamoris Draine, Patrick Marshall and
Vandy Smith

These are the results from the regional and the North Half competitions:
In the 114-pound weight class, Austin placed first at regional and
second at the North Half. Kurtis Odom placed second at regional. In
the 132-pound weight class, Johnson placed second at regional and
third at the North Half.

In the 148-pound weight class, Lemarcus Caradine placed first at
regional. In the 165-pound weight class, Javoris Draine placed first
at regional and second at the North Half.

In the 165-pound weight class, Victor Goldman placed third at
regional. In the 198-pound weight class, Daughtery placed first at
regional and first at the North Half. Tamoris Draine placed second at
regional and second at the North Half.

In the 220-pound weight class, Marshall placed first at regional and
second at the North Half. In the 242-pound weight class, Smith placed
first at regional and second at the North Half. Jarques McBride and
Kris Kent competed in the 275-pound weight class. McBride placed
third at regional.
