City testing
storm sirens
The city of Eupora is testing its severe weather sirens each Saturday
at noon through the month of April.
The duration of the tests will be about two-three minutes. The sirens
will not be tested if severe weather threatens.

Diabetes Support
Group to meet
The Diabetes Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. March 19 at North
Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora’s Education Room. For more

Diabetes class
The Comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Program at North
Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora will be offered March 20 from 7:30
a.m.-4:30 p.m. To register or for more information, call Velma

BSN, at 258-9311.

Basic computer
skills class
Holmes Workforce Development will offer a basic six-week computer
skills class March 25-April 29 at the Wood Institute campus in
Mathiston.
Participants will learn how use email, the Internet and Microsoft Word.
The class will be taught Mondays from 5-7 p.m. and the cost is $10 a
person (includes a USB drive). For registration contact Slade Redwine

Ideas, input needed
Do you want to help guide Eupora’s future? Do you want help develop a
business organization that promotes Eupora? Do you want to help
support community and economic development projects for Eupora?
Come to the Webster County Library, 445 W. Fox Ave., Eupora, any time
on March 26 from 3-6 p.m. to fill out a short survey. Comments will
be compiled into a report for Eupora city officials. Light
refreshments will be served during this time.

which are held at the Webster County Extension Office from noon-1 pm.

March 21 – The Amazing World of Azaleas
Dr. Wayne Porter, area Extension agent, Azaleas are native to many
parts of the world. Proper selection and care will provide blooms
from early spring until the first frost.

March 28 – Herbicide Use for Weed Control
Dr. John Byrd, Extension and Research professor, Along with the green
grass, there may be other green things like weeds! Crabgrass,
dallisgrass and other weeds are fighting for space in your yard. Join
Byrd for updates on MSMA crabgrass herbicide.

20-year
class reunion
The Eupora High School Class of 1993 will have its 20-year reunion on
June 8. Events include a 10 a.m. tour of the former high school
building and lunch and a 7 p.m. reunion dinner.

Story Hour at the Maben Public Library is every Friday at 10 a.m.
Come enjoy stories, music and other fun learning experiences for ages

Story Time at Webster County Public Library in Eupora is every
Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend and
enjoy stories and activities.

AA meetings
Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and
Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in
the Education Conference Room.

Bingo at VFW
Bingo is every Saturday at 6 p.m. at VFW Post 3806 in Eupora.

Longview Opry
Enjoy music, refreshments and fun at the Longview Opry on Highway 12
in Longview every Saturday at 7 p.m. Talent is welcome. Admission is

FBC Eupora
• Easter musical: Join First Baptist Church of Eupora for the annual
Easter musical event “I Will Rise” set for 6 p.m. March 24 in the
church sanctuary. First United Methodist Church Choir will be special
guest. For more information, contact Bro. Jason Carson at 258-3491.
• Salad luncheon: The Relay for Life team of FBC Eupora will have a
salad luncheon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. March 29 (Good Friday) in the
fellowship hall. Donations will be accepted.
• ‘Walking for a Cure’: The FBC Eupora Relay for Life team will be
“Walking for a Cure.”
Everyone is encouraged to donate the monetary amount of their shoe
size, or more, as the team sees how far it can “walk” around the
church to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

• WCU mission trip: Sarah Beth Sewell of William Carey University is
the granddaughter of Dean and Sue Hall of Eupora.
She will be going with the Carpenter’s Wood vocal Ensemble at WCU on
a mission trip to the Cayman Islands to work with WCU graduate Randy
von Kanel. The trip will be in May.

• Mission trip: FBC Eupora is planning a mission trip this summer to
West Virginia to help with construction projects and backyard Bible
schools. Tentative dates are for the week of July 21.

• OCC: In 2013, FBC Eupora hopes to make a bigger impact with
Operation Christmas Child. As part of the effort to have 300 boxes
for the Packing Party in November, it is conducting an Item of the
Month collection.
For the month of March, the church is collecting small Easter toys
that would fit into a shoebox, for girls, boys and babies, and Ziploc
bags. Drop off donations or for more information, contact the church

• Creative Kidz: Join First Baptist Church of Eupora for Creative
Kidz for children in grades 1-6. The new music and drama program is
designed to challenge a child’s creativity.
Led by Rachael Barnett, the new creative arts program is from 5:15 to
6 p.m. Wednesdays. After Creative Kidz, children can go to the Family
Life Center for the evening meal. Teenagers will eat at 5:30 p.m.
GAs, RAs and Mission Friends will follow at 6:30 p.m.

Lollars Grove
Lollars Grove Baptist Church of Eupora will host a benefit for the
Bill Bright family on March 16.
Pulled pork plates with sides will be sold for donation only, and
will be available for pickup at the church beginning at 3 p.m. This
is to assist with recent medical expenses associated with Cole
Bright’s heart surgery.

Webster Methodist
Cluster March 19
The Webster County Cluster of the United Methodist Church will have
its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. March 19 at Lebanon United
Methodist Church.
In addition to the regular business meeting, special entertainment
will be a group of 25 young singers from Mississippi State University.
The host church will provide a meal afterwards. Any member from any
other church may help with the meal.

Mathiston FBC
Easter egg hunt
Bring your Easter basket and come hunt eggs with Walt Disney
characters at 2 p.m. March 23 at First Baptist Church of Mathiston.
Plenty of eggs to hunt and prizes will be given away. The church will
have a booth with a professional photographer ready to capture your
little one’s memories or you can bring your own camera and make your
own.
A donation of $10 per person or $20 per family will go to the Webster
County Relay for Life.

‘Secret Church’
at Mathiston FBC
First Baptist Church of Mathiston will be hosting a LifeWay simulcast
of “Secret Church” on Good Friday, March 29.
David Platt, head pastor of The Church of Brook Hills in Birmingham,
Ala., will lead the Bible study from 6 p.m.-midnight. The
presentation will be free of charge to all attendees. Call 263-5334

World Harvest Out-
reach Ministries
Good Friday multimedia presentation
World Harvest Ministries will be hosting a special Good Friday
multimedia presentation called “I AM” on March 29 at 7 p.m.
This presentation will take you through the life of Christ and the
Second Coming. This will be a moving experience shared through song
and media. A choir made up of vocalists from Miracle Land Church,
Eupora; Walthall BC; Soul City House of God, Eupora; Church House of
Refuge Family Worship Center, West Point; FBC Starkville and
Starkville Church of God will be participating.
The service will be held at 45 N. Dunn St. (Miracle Land Church),
Eupora. Dr. Bob Meek, pastor (World Harvest) and Randy Wilson, pastor
(Miracle Land Church), and congregations invite all the local
churches and public to attend.

Old smartphones
needed for IMB
James Carpenter (Bro. William Carpenter’s brother) is on the
technical support team for the International Mission Board in the
North Africa/Middle East region. The team is testing and developing
apps for smartphones that will assist in dealing with the work among
those people.
