From Press Reports
The volunteers in the accompanying photo, along with many others in Webster County, have joined more than 3 million volunteers across the country to help fight cancer and save lives.
Webster County volunteers have been busy getting posters and forms out through the county reminding everyone to purchase their Relay for Life luminarias early. Luminaria bags with names of individuals who have been honored will line the walking track at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora Hospital the night of the event on April 26.
A candle in the bags will be lit before the special Luminaria Ceremony. Each name on a luminaria bag honoring a cancer survivor or in memory of a loved one will be called out during the ceremony.
Everyone is encouraged to secure luminarias as early as possible so that all the luminaria bags will be ready to place around the track when the event begins. Getting luminarias early gives participants time to enjoy the fun and activities that will be taking place at Webster County’s fifth annual Relay for Life.
Relay for Life brings together cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
It also brings together those who remember loved ones lost and want to fight back against the disease.
For more information about purchasing a luminaria contact Frances Hyde at 258-8428 or 552-0705.
Also, Webster County cancer survivors are invited to be special guests at Relay for Life. Call Carol Hillhouse at 258-8489 or 325-3094 to sign up. Early registration is encouraged.
