McCulloch makes difference at hospital

From Press Reports

North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora is proud to have experienced nursing staff with various degrees of experience in different fields of nursing.

One of those experienced nursing staff members is Marion McCulloch, who has been a registered nurse for 32 years. She has varied nursing experience in settings such as home care, acute care and outpatient. McCulloch also holds the distinction of being certified in specialty care of wounds, ostomies and continence issues.

She received her training in 1992 in an intensive two-month course study at Emory in Atlanta. One month was spent in classroom study with trained surgeons. Her second month was spent with a one-on-one experienced WOCN (wound, ostomy, continence nurse). This allowed her time to apply her hard earned knowledge to those in need with the supervision of experienced nurses.

McCulloch maintains her WOCN certification every five years with continuing education classes. She merits further distinction as being NMMC-Eupora’s WOCN. Not all hospitals have this type of nursing experience on staff. McCulloch receives periodic patient referrals from medical staff for evaluation of wound, ostomy and continence issues. She evaluates those patients and offers suggestions of care to the doctors for best treatment options.
