Rose Graham, leader of the Controllers General II 4-H Club of Maben, participated in a Starkville District UMC leadership training event.
The four hours of training was conducted Jan. 12 at Columbus First United Methodist Church. A service project was added to aid the hurricane victims in the Northeast.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief service project was packing health kits to provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave their homes because of human conflict or natural disaster.
The kits will also be used as learning tools in personal hygiene, literacy, nutrition, and cooking classes.
Items included in the kits were one hand towel, one washcloth, one comb, one nail file, one bath-size bar of soap, six adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages and one toothbrush, all placed inside a sealed 1-gallon plastic bag. Donations to buy toothpaste and for shipping were sent separately.
The Rev. Dr. Embra Jackson thanked everyone for their donation and making a difference in people’s lives.
