Passport notice The Webster County circuit clerk’s office will no longer serve as an acceptance agent for passports effective Feb. 1. Anyone who needs a passport may contact the nearest passport agent, which will be the Oktibbeha County circuit clerk’s office at 323-1356 or the MSU Post Office in Starkville at 323-5772. Chili sale/fund- raiser at OES Eupora Chapter #261 OES is having a chili sale from now until Feb. 2. The chili will be able to be picked up at the Eupora Masonic Lodge Building from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Feb. 2. Prices for the chili are one gallon for $20, a half-gallon for $10 and one quart for $5. Be sure to get your chili ordered because Feb. 3 is the Super Bowl.

First Pitch Baseball Banquet The Eupora Baseball Booster Club is hosting a First Pitch Baseball Banquet on Feb. 11. The banquet will be held at the Eupora High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Former Mississippi State University Head Coach Ron Polk will be the guest speaker for the event. Coach Polk is the winningest baseball coach in all Southeastern Conference history with 1,218 wins. He is also author of “The Baseball Playbook” and co-author of “The Baseball Coaching Bible.” This event will include a silent auction where various sports items and memorabilia will be available for bidding. Tickets for the banquet are on sale through Feb. 4. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, see any junior high, junior varsity or varsity baseball player or contact the high school office. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Eupora baseball team.
School Board meeting dates, times to change The Webster County School Board is changing its meeting dates and times beginning in February. Beginning Feb. 4, the board will meet at 6 p.m. the first and second Mondays of each month.
Local ‘Biggest Loser’ program The Civic League of Mathiston will be starting its own version of “Biggest Loser.” Participants will meet Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Mathiston Public Library. Dr. Lisa South will be measuring BMI as well as leg and arm circumference, taking blood pressure, checking height and weighing participants. The Civic League asks everyone that participates to chip in $25 because at the end of three months, the person with the highest percentage of weight lost will walk away being its first-ever Biggest Loser and will win money. The organization is in the process of getting health-centered classes to go along with its Biggest Loser weigh-ins. Classes are TBA. For more information call Betty at 312-8724.

Brunswick stew fundraiser set The Clarkson-Fame Volunteer Fire Department will be having another Brunswick stew fundraiser to raise money for purchase of equipment and maintenance of the department. The fundraiser will be Feb. 9 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Donations of ingredients for the stew or monetary donations will be greatly appreciated.

Church News Walthall Baptist annual supper Walthall Baptist Church will have its annual grilled chicken and deer supper Feb. 1 from 5-7 p.m. Carryout plates will be available at 4:30 p.m. Deer, grilled chicken, quail, chicken livers, fried green tomatoes, desserts and other side items will be served. This year all donations will go to retire the note on the sanctuary.
Eupora FBC • D-WOW: Youth throughout Webster County are invited to attend Discipleship Now or D-WOW Feb. 15-17 at First Baptist Church of Eupora. Churches throughout Webster County are encouraged to sponsor their youth groups at the event. The guest speaker will be Perry Pugh and the Josh Buford Band will provide worship music.
