Even though Jan. 14, was a rainy day, attendance at the monthly meeting of Friends of Webster County Public Library was great.
Members and guests were entertained by Maury Shurlds, a native of Tchula and now a resident of Maben. Shurlds shared stories from his book “Memories.” Threaded throughout his book is a style of Mississippi living, both Delta and Hill, during the 20th century; the inevitable tragedies in and around a collection of people; travels and adventures of the author and his wife; and delightful humorous tales from years gone by, while still weaving the various parts of the author’s life in those who surround him.
After Shurlds’ wonderful storytelling, everyone enjoyed a lunch of soup , cornbread and dessert. The next meeting of Friends will be Feb. 11 at 11:30 a.m.
