Police make drug arrest

From Staff Reports

A weekend traffic stop in the city resulted in a felony drug arrest, according to the Eupora Police Department.

Police Chief Gregg Hunter said Officer Tayler Hitt stopped a vehicle about 6:30 p.m. Sunday on West Roane Avenue (Highway 182) in the area of Joliff Street for careless driving.

As a result of the stop, Tonny Hargrove, 36, was arrested and charged with careless driving, suspended driver’s license, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of powder cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a school.

Hunter said a passenger in the vehicle, Terry Harvey, 38, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of beer in a dry county.

Officer Mitch Jackson backed Hitt up in making the arrests, said Hunter.
