Golden LivingCenter Eupora hosted a ceremony sponsored by Gentiva Hospice in honor of Veterans Day.
On Nov. 8 at 2:30 p.m., Gentiva Hospice came and provided a reception to honor its veterans at GLC Eupora. They were also provided a lapel pin to wear to remind them of their service to the country. These veterans were recognized at this occasion: Johnnie Armstrong, Eugene Brasfield, Robert Dorroh, Arnold Duncan, Clifford Gary, Albert Hensley, Sam Hood, Chris Klimek and Otha Shurden
“This is a special event to respect patients and residents and staff who have honorably served in the military and show them how much we appreciate them and their service,” said Gerald Gary, executive director of Golden LivingCenter Eupora. “We hope that Webster County and surrounding counties and communities will join us as we say ‘Thank you’ to the veterans among us.”
Veterans Day initially originated from Armistice Day, which celebrated the end of World War I. After World War II and the Korean War, Congress officially created Veterans Day in 1954. Not to be confused with Memorial Day, Veterans Day commemorates and honors all American veterans, living and dead, who served in the military.
