Band concert Eupora High School’s Pride of Eupora will present its annual Christmas Concert benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 7 p.m. Dec. 13. Admission is $3 and the band concert is open to the public.

‘Cookies in a Jar’ workshop Homemade gifts in a jar are a fun way to celebrate the holiday season and can make great gifts for just about anyone. Join us at the Webster County Extension Office for a “Cookies in a Jar” workshop from 4-5:30 p.m. Dec. 18. Please call by Dec. 14; only 10 slots available. ‘The Christmas Star’ Rainwater Observatory will be offering a free program for the Christmas season called “The Christmas Star.” This program will be presented Dec. 14 starting at 7 p.m. by Edwin Faughn, director of Rainwater Observatory. After the presentation, weather permitting, an observing session will be held using Rainwater’s collection of telescopes. The planetarium can be used if the outdoor observing is clouded out. Rainwater Observatory and Planetarium is located one mile east of the Natchez Trace Parkway off MS Highway 413 near the village of French Camp.

Mantee Christmas Parade Dec. 15 The Mantee Christmas Parade is Dec. 15. A chili supper fundraiser will follow the parade at the fire station. There is no entry fee to enter a float or vehicle. Lineup is at 4:30 p.m. and the parade starts at 5 p.m. Come and be a part of the 2012 Mantee Christmas Parade! Maben Christmas Lighting Contest The Maben Home and Garden Club is sponsoring the annual Maben Christmas Lighting Contest. The date is Monday, Dec. 17. Out-of-town judges will be choosing winners in Overall Residential, Overall Business and Best Window/Best Decor. To be considered entrants must have lights on beginning at 7 p.m. Gift cards will be awarded to the first-place winners.

Eupora Boy Scout citrus, apple sale The Boy Scout citrus fruit and apples have arrived and may be picked up Dec. 17-21 from 1-6 p.m. and Dec. 22 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Scout room behind the Community Center. To enjoy your fresh fruit, the Scouts urge everyone to pick up their orders as soon as possible.

Story Hour Story Hour at the Maben Public Library is every Friday at 10 a.m. Come enjoy stories, music and other fun learning experiences for ages 3 to 6.

Story Time Story Time at Webster County Public Library in Eupora is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend and enjoy stories and activities.

AA meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.

Bingo at VFW Bingo is every Saturday at 6 p.m. at VFW Post 3806 in Eupora.

Longview Opry Enjoy music, refreshments and fun at the Longview Opry on Highway 12 in Longview every Saturday at 7 p.m. Talent is welcome. Admission is free.

Church News FBC Eupora First Baptist Church of Eupora invites the community to the Adult Christmas Cantata, featuring the FBC Adult Choir. The annual Christmas event will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 in the church sanctuary. • JOY Club: FBC Eupora’s JOY Club will meet at 11:30 p.m. Dec. 18 for its monthly potluck lunch at the fellowship hall of FBC Eupora. The public is invited to attend. • Silent communion: FBC Eupora will hold silent communion on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24). Maben Methodist Maben Methodist Church’s choir will present its annual Christmas musical at 6 p.m. Dec. 16. A walk-through Nativity scene begins at 5:30 p.m. behind the church. It is a project of the young people of the church, with the help of the pastor, the Rev. Scarlet Shepperd. A time for snacks and visiting will follow the musical in the fellowship hall.
