Maben Christmas Parade The town of Maben will have its 2012 Christmas parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 6. The theme of the parade is “Joy to the World.” For more information call City Hall at 263-4212.

Ackerman Christmas Parade The Ackerman Christmas Parade is set for 6 p.m. Dec. 6 with the theme “A Picture Perfect Christmas.”

Gospel singing A gospel music jubilee will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Gore Springs Community Center. Performing will be Bill Monaghan, Bobby Hawkins, Still Blessed and Boundless Love. Admission is $5 and concessions are available.

Woodmen Lodge 94 Christmas supper Woodmen of the World Lodge 94 invites members and their families to its Christmas supper Dec. 8 from 7-9 p.m. Ham and turkey will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert. “We hope to see all of our lodge members!”

Mathiston Christmas Parade Mathiston’s 2012 Christmas Parade will be Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. with lineup beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Mathiston ballpark. There is no entry fee to be in the parade. The theme for this year’s parade is “A Caroling We Will Go’ and the Civic League will be awarding $100, $75 and $50 prizes to first-, second- and third-place winners. Friends of the Library The December meeting of Eupora Friends of the Library will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 10 at the Webster County Library. Members will share their special seasonal goodies. Lunch will be served and visitors are welcome.

Maben City Hall open house Mayor Larry Pruitt invites the public to dedication and open house for the new Maben City Hall at 1 p.m. Dec. 11. Maben City Hall is located at 711 Second Ave.

Eupora Boy Scout citrus, apple sale The Boy Scouts citrus and apples have arrived. Customers may pick up their orders at the Scout room at the Community Center. The room is located on the back of the Community Center next to the fire station and Regions Bank parking lot. The hours for pickup will be from 1-6 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14. On Dec. 15 the hours will be 8 a.m. until noon. The following week fruit may be picked up Dec. 17-21 from 1-6 p.m. and Dec. 22 from 8 a.m. until noon. To enjoy your fresh fruit, the Scouts urge everyone to pick up their orders as soon as possible.

Mantee Christmas Parade Dec. 15 The Mantee Christmas Parade is Dec. 15. A chili supper fundraiser will follow the parade at the fire station. There is no entry fee to enter a float or vehicle. Lineup is at 4:30 p.m. and the parade starts at 5 p.m. Come and be a part of the 2012 Mantee Christmas Parade! ‘Cookies in a Jar’ workshop Homemade gifts in a jar are a fun way to celebrate the holiday season and can make great gifts for just about anyone. Join us at the Webster County Extension Office for a “Cookies in a Jar” workshop from 4-5:30 p.m. Dec. 18. Please call by Dec. 14; only 10 slots available. Story Hour Story Hour at the Maben Public Library is every Friday at 10 a.m. Come enjoy stories, music and other fun learning experiences for ages 3 to 6.

Story Time Story Time at Webster County Public Library in Eupora is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend and enjoy stories and activities.

AA meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.

Bingo at VFW Bingo is every Saturday at 6 p.m. at VFW Post 3806 in Eupora.

Longview Opry Enjoy music, refreshments and fun at the Longview Opry on Highway 12 in Longview every Saturday at 7 p.m. Talent is welcome. Admission is free.

Church News Mathiston UMC chili/soup sale The Mathiston United Methodist Women will be selling homemade chili and soup (to go) at the fellowship hall of Mathiston United Methodist Church on Highway 15 from 4-8 p.m. Dec. 8.

FBC Eupora First Baptist Church of Eupora invites the community to the annual Christmas Celebration. This year, FBC will have its “Family Christmas” event, featuring special music from the children’s department at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 in the church sanctuary. • Adult Cantata: FBC Eupora invites the community to the Adult Christmas Cantata, featuring the FBC Adult Choir. The annual Christmas event will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 in the church sanctuary. • JOY Club: FBC Eupora’s JOY Club will meet at 11:30 p.m. Dec. 18 for its monthly potluck lunch at the fellowship hall of FBC Eupora. The public is invited to attend. Bellefontaine UMC Bellefontaine United Methodist Church is partnering with Eupora’s Dollar General to help provide toys and clothes for needy children in Webster County.

The Dollar General Toy Drive will go through Dec. 23. Stop by Eupora’s Dollar General to help provide toys that will go to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree project and provide toys for needy children within the Webster County School District.
