Mathiston ‘Lighting in the Park’ The Civic League of Mathiston will be having a “Lighting in the Park” on Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
All area churches are invited to participate and bring their choirs/ praise groups to sing Christmas carols.
Any church that would like to set up a hospitality table and hand out snacks/drinks is invited to join in with the Civic League in giving back to the community.
The Civic League will be handing out hot cocoa and Christmas cookies to everyone that night. It has also booked Kenneth and Sara Arnold for this night and they will be bringing their karaoke equipment to have Christmas karaoke.
This is a perfect way to kick off the Christmas season and it will be a family-oriented event, perfect for any age. Civic League members invite everyone to come join them for a fun-filled night. Bring your own lawn chair and a blanket. For more info, call Betty at 312-8724.
Mobile WIN Job Center The Mobile WIN Job Center will set up shop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 29 at the former Garan factory on Highway 9 South in Eupora.

Citrus, apple sale under way Troop 30 Boy Scouts has started its fall citrus sale that will last through the month of November. Delivery of the citrus is scheduled for Dec. 9 or 12.

Florida fruit that will be offered: Hamlin oranges, navel oranges, tangelos and red grapefruit. These varieties will be offered in 2/5- bushel boxes (20 pounds) and 4/5-bushel boxes (40 pounds). The Scouts will also have a citrus trio box and a citrus mix box.
Washington state apples will also be sold. The apples offered are Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Granny Smith. The apples are available in bushel boxes only.
Christmas T-shirts The Civic League of Mathiston is selling 2012 Christmas T-shirts that are designed by Southern Belle. The shirts are red with traditional Christmas colors on the back and has snowmen caroling around the Christmas tree with the words “A Caroling We Go”
The shirts are available in long or short sleeve, and sizes youth extra small up through adult 5X are available. Short sleeve are $13, long sleeve are $15. There is no date or town name on the shirts. For more information call 312-8724.
Weir Flea Market A flea market will be Dec. 1 on Front Street in Weir from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. There is no vendor fee. Cookbooks, photos, bake sale at county library Cookbooks have arrived at the Webster County Public Library. “Cooking with Friends” is available through Friends of the Library, at the library and during the Christmas Market on Dec. 1 at a cost of $10.
Stephanie Sanderford Photography will taking photographs at the library on Dec. 1. A bake sale will also be held that day.

Eupora Christmas Parade The Eupora Christmas Parade will be Dec. 1 at 5:30 with the theme “Let Freedom Ring with the Bells of Christmas.” Billy Powell will serve as grand marshal.
Entry forms are available at the Progress-Times office (58 N. Dunn) and Eupora City Hall or from any member of the Eupora Rotary Club.
Completed forms should be returned by 5 p.m. Nov. 28, along with an entry fee of $10 for floats. Lineup begins at 4:30 p.m. along West Fox and West Clark avenues. The first-place float will be awarded $200 and second place $100.

‘Christmas in the City’ “Christmas in the City” will be from 4-8 p.m. Dec. 3 in Calhoun City.
Activities will include a Christmas bazaar at 4 p.m. featuring various vendors, silent auction at 5 p.m., spaghetti supper at 5 p.m. ($5 a plate), Christmas parade at 6 p.m., and Chamber Christmas raffle of a gun safe, Browning A Bolt .308, Remington .870 12-gauge, Ruger 1022 and Yeti cooler (see any Chamber member to buy tickets).

Burlap Wreath Making Workshop The time for preparing and decorating our homes for the holiday season is quickly approaching. Let Webster County Extension help you with your decorating needs. Join us at the Webster County Extension Office for a Burlap Wreath Making Workshop on Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. If you would like to attend call the Extension Office (258-3971) by Nov. 29. The workshop will cost $10 and that will cover the burlap and wire wreath. There are only eight slots, so act fast.
Mathiston Christmas Parade Mathiston’s 2012 Christmas Parade will be Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. with lineup beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Mathiston ballpark.
There is no entry fee to be in the parade. The theme for this year’s parade is “A Caroling We Will Go’ and the Civic League will be awarding $100, $75 and $50 prizes to first-, second- and third-place winners. For more information, call Betty at 312-8724 or Rachel at City Hall at 263-4898.
‘Cookies in a Jar’ workshops Homemade gifts in a jar are a fun way to celebrate the holiday season and can make great gifts for just about anyone.
