1st Mathiston pageant great success

For the WPT

The Civic League of Mathiston is proud of the 40 contestants that participated in the first Mister and Miss Mathiston pageant on Oct. 13.

Bennett Hall at Wood College/East Webster High was filled with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. The hall stage was decorated with beautiful green ferns on white pillars and a lovely archway provided by Janet Dean, owner of Mathiston Florist.

The pageant started a bit late because of the families continuing to flow into the building. Once the pageant started each contestant was announced by emcee Lavelle McAlpin. The contestants were judged on presentation as well as prettiest eyes, prettiest hair, prettiest smile, prettiest dress and best personality.

After an intermission McAlpin had the honor of crowning each king and queen as follows:

• Anna Hightower, 16, daughter of George and Lisa Hightower, is 2012 Miss Mathiston Queen.

• Jalie White, 12, daughter of Jason White and Leslie Robinson, is 2012 Jr. Miss Mathiston Queen.

• Siriniti Skyy Torres, 9, daughter of Kristin and Chad Carpenter, is 2012 Young Miss Mathiston Queen.

• Terra Lannae Quinn, 7, daughter of Crystal Quinn and Marcus Quinn, is 2012 Mini-Miss Mathiston Queen.

• Macy Bryant, 3, daughter of John and Alice Bryant, is 2012 Wee Miss Mathiston Queen.

• Adam Tindall, 2, son of Alison Tindall, is 2012 Wee Mister Mathiston King.

When the pageant was over parents had opportunity to purchase pictures from KC Photography. The league wanted every participant to know how special he or she is, so everyone left with a crown.

Every contestant was beautiful! Many individuals helped to make that night a success and the Civic League of Mathiston thanks each and every one.

Until next year’s Mister and Miss Beauty Pageant, keep smiling!
