Benefit Saturday for Stewart VFD A benefit for the Stewart Volunteer Fire Department will be at noon Nov. 10. Chicken plates will be available for $7 (served with baked beans, slaw or chips, dessert and drink). Hamburger and hot dog plates are $5. A cake and toy walk will be at 3 p.m.
Mathiston Veterans Day ceremony The Mathiston Development and Support Council will unveil the designs for Mathiston’s veterans’ memorial during a Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 10. The ceremony will take place at Mathiston First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. The monument will feature the names of all Mathiston area veterans who lost their lives in service.
Gospel music jubilee Saturday A gospel music jubilee will be Nov. 10 at the Gore Springs Community Center starting at 6 p.m. Admission is $5. The Selah Baptist Trio, Beyond Measure, the Slaton Family and Dustin McKibben and others will perform.
Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Vigil Mathiston will host a Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Vigil in partnership with the Lung Cancer Alliance on Nov 11. The vigil begins at 2 p.m. at the Mathiston Public Library.
Veterans Day program Nov. 12 Joe H. Morehead VFW Post 3806 will be having a Veterans Day program at the Eupora Post Office veterans’ monument at 11 a.m. Nov. 12 to honor all of the fallen heroes of Webster County. The post encourages all veterans and the public to attend.
Eupora Friends of the Library The regular meeting of the Eupora Friends of the Library will be Nov. 12 at 11:30 a.m. Joe Lee, a Mississippi author, is scheduled to speak. Lunch will be available for a nominal fee.

Catch-A-Dream Banquet Mississippi Sportsmen for Catch-A-Dream Annual Sponsors Banquet will be Nov. 20 at the Eupora National Guard armory. Doors open at 6 p.m. The banquet will feature a seafood buffet dinner, raffle and auction. All proceeds will benefit the Catch-A-Dream Foundation. Sponsor dinner tickets are $150 and child dinner tickets are $15 (ages 15 and under). All tickets are first come, first serve. Christmas T-shirts The Civic League of Mathiston is selling 2012 Christmas T-shirts that are designed by Southern Belle. The shirts are red with traditional Christmas colors on the back and has snowmen caroling around the Christmas tree with the words “A Caroling We Go”
The shirts are available in long or short sleeve, and sizes youth extra small up through adult 5X are available. Short sleeve are $13, long sleeve are $15. There is no date or town name on the shirts. For more information call 312-8724.
Eupora Christmas Parade The Eupora Christmas Parade will be Dec. 1 at 5:30 with the theme “Let Freedom Ring with the Bells of Christmas.” Entry forms are available at the Progress-Times office (58 N. Dunn) and Eupora City Hall or from any member of the Eupora Rotary Club. Completed forms should be returned by 5 p.m. Nov. 28, along with an entry fee of $10 for floats. Lineup begins at 4:30 p.m. along West Fox and West Clark avenues. The first-place float will be awarded $200 and second place $100.

Mathiston Christmas Parade Mathiston’s 2012 Christmas Parade will be Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. with lineup beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Mathiston ballpark. There is no entry fee to be in the parade. The theme for this year’s parade is “A Caroling We Will Go’ and the Civic League will be awarding $100, $75 and $50 prizes to first-, second- and third-place winners.
