EWHS supports good cause during Homecoming

By Shelley Rae Edwards Student Council Reporter East Webster High School

East Webster had an exciting Homecoming week Oct. 8-12.

The Student Council sponsored a display board contest and a daily spirit day contest. The Homecoming Theme was “Wolverines with a Cause”; it focused on breast cancer awareness and giving back to the community.

In addition to the contests sponsored to boost school spirit, the EWHS cheerleaders organized the sale of various items during the week to raise money that will be given to the Susan G. Komen foundation and other needs within our community.

The EWHS family has been so blessed by people giving and helping during our time of need (from the tornadoes of 2011) that we wanted to give something back to our community. We appreciate all those who helped us make this Homecoming not only a festive time, but also a success in raising money for worthy causes.

Our display contest was won by the eighth-grade class. Daily Spirit winners were: • “Give Cancer the Boot” (Western Day): Pressly Brown and MariTodd Brown • “Stick It to Cancer” (Duct Tape Day): Josh Kirkman • “Helping Webster County Celebrate More Birthdays” (Birthday Day): Hannah Harrison • “EWHS Saving the World One Wolverine at a Time” (Super Hero Day): Jake Williams • “Get Your Pink On” (Pink Day): Arial Decoteau and Derek Jones.
