Mister and Miss Mathiston Pageant The Civic League of Mathiston will be having its premier Mister and Miss Mathiston beauty pageant on Oct. 13 beginning at 6 p.m. at Bennett Hall on the Wood College campus.

Children 5 and younger get in free; admission for all others is $5 each. Registration starts at 4:30.

Gospel music jubilee Oct. 13 A gospel music jubilee will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Gore Springs Community Center. Blessed Assurance, Roy C. Chandler, the Tracemen Quartet, Homeward Bound and others will perform. Admission is $5.

Watson Reunion The annual Watson Reunion will be Oct. 14 at the Woodmen Lodge in Eupora, beginning at 10:30 a.m. This year will be celebrated as the 50th consecutive year of meeting. All descendants, relatives and friends are invited to attend.

‘Welcome to the Gang’ Mathiston Public Library will be hosting “Welcome to the Gang” storytime sponsored by the Civic League of Mathiston. The stories and activities will be “Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin.” The fun will begin Oct. 23 from 10-11:30 a.m. All preschoolers and their parents or caregivers are welcomed to attend. NMMC-Eupora Health Fair North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora will host a Health Fair on Oct. 25 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the hospital. Free screenings for prostate-specific antigen, glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and weight screenings will be offered. Black-eyed Pea Festival Mantee’s third annual Black-eyed Pea Festival will be Oct. 27. Sewing programs A miniseries of sewing programs by Reba Bland of MSU Extension will be Nov. 7 and 14 at the Webster County Extension Office from 10 a.m.-3 pm.

These programs will equip participants with the tools necessary to complete any sewing project. They will learn the basics of sewing and how to sew on their machine. In addition they will learn by doing; all participants will complete a sewing project.

Catch-A-Dream Banquet Mississippi Sportsmen for Catch-A-Dream Annual Sponsors Banquet will be Nov. 20 at the Eupora National Guard armory. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The banquet will feature a seafood buffet dinner, raffle and auction. All proceeds will benefit the Catch-A-Dream Foundation.

Story Hour Story Hour at the Maben Public Library is every Friday at 10 a.m. Come enjoy stories, music and other fun learning experiences for ages 3 to 6.

Storytime Storytime at Webster County Public Library in Eupora is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend and enjoy stories and activities.

AA meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.

Bingo at VFW Bingo is every Saturday at 6 p.m. at VFW Post 3806 in Eupora.

Longview Opry Enjoy music, refreshments and fun at the Longview Opry on Highway 12 in Longview every Saturday at 7 p.m. Talent is welcome. Admission is free.

Church News Highways & Hedges Homecoming at Highways and Hedges Worship Center will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 14. Sister Sarah Ishee of Laurel will be the guest speaker.

Southern Flair from French Camp will perform at 1:30 p.m. The church is located 2 miles south of Eupora on Highway 9.

Maben Church of God Homecoming at Maben Church of God will be Oct 14. Bishop Hootie Maples from Mobile, Ala., will speak at the homecoming service at 11 a.m.

Revelations from Jackson will be singing at 10 a.m. and a meal will follow the service. No evening service will be held. Revival services will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 and 16 with Bishop Maples as the speaker. The church is located at 3965 Crowley Drive, or Sturgis-Maben Road.

New Pleasant Spring M.B. New Pleasant Spring Missionary Baptist Church of Stewart will have a Men and Women’s Day Program at 3 p.m. Oct. 14. The speaker will be the Rev. Larry Donell Harris and the theme is “Stand on Tract: Reaching the Hearts of Men and Women for Christ” from James 1:22. Churches are invited to bring their choirs, musicians, soloists and singing pastors.

FBC Eupora Chris Barrow and his family will be the guest speaker at Sunday night’s worship service at First Baptist Church of Eupora. He is working with the North American Mission Board to plant a new Southern Baptist church in Ritchie County, W. Va.; which has no Southern Baptist churches.

Join us Oct. 14 for worship beginning at 6 p.m. to learn more about the mission work that churches in Webster County are working toward.

• “Courageous”: First Baptist Church of Eupora will be showing the movie “Courageous” in the Family Life Center Oct. 21 beginning at 6 p.m.

Lebanon United Methodist church is hosting its fall revival Oct. 14-17. Sunday service will be at 6 p.m. and Monday-Wednesday services will be at 7 p.m. Guest evangelist will be the Rev. West Eupora Church of God West Eupora Church of God will have a bake sale in front of Piggly Wiggly on Oct. 20 beginning at 9 a.m. Many goodies that are sure to please your tummy will be available.

• Fall Festival: Fall Festival at West Eupora Church of God, 1716 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, will be Oct. 27 beginning at noon. The festival will include games, an inflatable jumper, great food and a hayride.

Ackerman Church of God The “In His Hands Mission” 5K Run/Walk will be Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. in downtown Ackerman. The Ackerman Church of God youth are sponsoring the 5k run/walk to raise funds for a mission trip to North Little Rock, Ark. All ages are encouraged to participate; the entry fee is $20. Pre-register by Oct. 21 to receive a free T-shirt. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. with race beginning at 8 a.m. at the pavilion across from Main Street.

West Shady Baptist Baptist Bring your lawn chairs to West Shady Grove Baptist Church for a fall festival and singing Oct. 27. Kids’ activities start at 4 p.m., and a meal and music start at 5 p.m.

Activities will include face painting, sack races, bingo, fishing for apples, soda can ball toss, Go Fish, door prizes and singing, concluding with a hayride. The singing will feature Heavenly Journey with “Southern-fried gospel” and the band Family Tradition.
