Rocking cat inspires Storytime

By Fran Smith, Librarian Webster County Public Library

“Rocking in My School Shoes,” a book about Pete the Cat, was the inspiration for Storytime at Webster County Public Library on Sept. 26.

This new book tells about Pete the Cat as he goes to different places around his school in his school shoes. After Ms. Bonnie read the book to 14 children, they decorated guitars so they could be rocking in their shoes.

Following a time of listening, singing and dancing, the children selected a prize from the treasure chest, checked out books and left for the day.

Storytime is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Webster County Public Library.

The Children’s Collection at the library contains books, videos and DVDs. Many of the children’s books are labeled with the Accelerated Reader Levels that correspond with the AR tests at school.
