Laura Harpole Bishop Sept. 24, 2012 Services for Laura Harpole Bishop, 91, were Sept. 27, 2012, at Double Springs Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating.
She was born Nov. 18, 1920, to the late Edna Douglas and Squire Harpole in Oktibbeha County. She graduated as valedictorian of her Maben High School Class of 1938 and graduated from Wood Junior College in Mathiston. Mrs. Bishop was a homemaker and seamstress, and worked beside her husband in Bishop’s Grocery and Service Station for many years. She also taught first grade at Maben School for a short time. Mrs. Bishop was a lifelong member of Double Springs Methodist Church and served it in many capacities. She died Sept. 24, 2012, at Whitfield Nursing Home in Corinth.
Survivors include three daughters, Sue Ann Dilworth of Biggersville, Nancy Smith of Maumelle, Ark., and Laura Clark of Stoneville; a sister, Doris Bayburt of Troy, Mich.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Elizabeth Hood Golding Sept. 30, 2012 Services for Elizabeth Hood Golding, 87, of Winona were Oct. 2, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Winona with Dr. Chris Aldridge officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Eupora to the late Clyde and Homa Salley Hood. She was a retired teacher, having taught second grade for 50 years. Mrs. Golding was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona. She died of heart failure at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona on Sept. 30, 2012.
Survivors include two sons, Talmadge “Tee” Golding of Winona and Steve Golding of Zionsville, Ind.; a sister, Marjorie Sue Hood Walker of Madison; and four grandchildren
Pallbearers were James Britt, Alex Golding, Ed Golding, Pat Golding, Tommy Golding, David Hood, R.H. “Nig” O’Neal and David Putman.

Mrs. Mattie Patridge Burton Mrs. Mattie Patridge Burton, 75, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2012, from 1 p.m. until service time at Whitehall United Methodist Church in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Whitehall United Methodist Church with Rev. Kyle Ivy officiating. Interment will be in Whitehall United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Burton was born March 27, 1937. She was a member of Whitehall United Methodist Church and she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Burton is survived by her son, Silas Walter Burton, Jr., of Louisville, Mississippi; her step-son, Bobby Burton of Beulah, Mississippi; four sisters: Mary Ann Griffin of Mathiston, Mississippi; Shirley Arney of Sturgis, Mississippi; Christine Black also of Mathiston; and Linda Kitchens of Stewart, Mississippi. She is also survived by three brothers: Thomas Wayne Patridge of Eupora, Mississippi; Jimmy Patridge of Mathiston, Mississippi; and Eddie Patridge of Maben, Mississippi. She also has four grandchildren.

Mrs. Edna Maxine Glaeser Belden, MS
Mrs. Edna Maxine Glaeser, 89, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at Rosewood Nursing Home in Belden. Funeral services were 3:00 pm Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with burial in Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County. Rev. Willy Weddle officiated. Visitation was Sunday from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Glaeser was a retired clerk at Brookley Air Base in Mobile, AL. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton V. Glaeser; brothers, James “Bilbo” Wright, Audie Lloyd Wright, Cameron Wright, Herman Wright; sisters, Gerald Dean Lowery and Ora Lee Chandler.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Hood of Eupora; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. James H. Evans Bellefontaine, MS
Mr. James H. Evans, 75, electrician, died from complications of Parkinsons Disease, Sept. 29th, 2012 at the North Ms. Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Monday, Oct. 1st at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Bellefontaine. Dr. Allen Simpson, and Dr. Don Vaughan officiated, with burial in the North Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wayne Baker, Jimmy Ray Caffey, Daniel Crutchfield, Joe Douglas Evans, Kenny Gene Ingram, Gregory Evans Latham, Michael Evans “Mack” McLellan and Charles Ray. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Knight and Rufus Marter.
He is survived by his wife, Zona Sue Wood Evans, Bellefontaine, MS; daughter, Marla Carol Evans (Mike) McLellan, Greenwood, MS; four sisters, Catherine Evans Weddle, Eupora, MS, Libby Jean Evans Middleton, Bellefontaine, MS, Nina Evans Latham, Bellefontaine, MS, Jonnie Crutchfield Blom, Tallahassee, FL; and grandson, Michael Evans McLellan.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Talbert and Lillie Mae Evans; and two brothers, Joe Carroll Evans and Thomas Crutchfield.
He was a member and deacon of the Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of Adelphian Masonic Lodge 174 in Bellefontaine, and an Air Force Veteran. He helped organize the Bellefontaine Water Association, and the Bellefontaine Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Longtime President of the North Union Cemetery Committee and served on several other committees.
