VA mobile health clinic coming to area

ACKERMAN — The G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery VA Medical Center will set up a mobile health clinic in Ackerman on Sept. 29 beginning at 9 a.m. at the National Guard armory.

The mobile health clinic will be set up to provide health care services and enrollment information to veterans in the area. Some of the services that will be available at the mobile clinic will be eligibility determination, registration, enrollment in MyHealtheVet, physical exams, patient education, Vet Center information, benefits information, cemetery information and female veterans’ information.

Veterans must bring their DD214, VA card or military ID.

Master Sgt. Tommy Ballard, volunteer event coordinator, said the event will be like a “mini-VA combined with the regional office.” He also said this is the first time the mobile VA health clinic has come to Ackerman.

All area veterans of all military branches are encouraged to attend, especially those in Choctaw, Winston and Webster counties. The Choctaw County National Guard armory is located at 9540 MS Highway 12 E. in. Ackerman.
