COPD

From Press Reports

COPD stands for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which includes chronic bronchitis, emphysema or both. COPD gradually robs people of the ability to breathe.

It is estimated that half of the 24 million people in the Unites States who may have COPD remain undiagnosed. Many symptoms of COPD, like shortness of breath, are confused with normal signs of aging. For this reason many people delay seeing a health care professional for an accurate diagnosis. In the coming weeks we will educate you on COPD community initiatives, risk factors, signs and symptoms.

After being diagnosed with COPD, treatment often includes pulmonary rehab. North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora has a pulmonary rehabilitation program to meet the needs of the community. For more information contact Lydia Cain at 258-6221 or 258-9245.
