Smith Rotary Student for month of September

The Eupora Rotary Club honored senior Madison Smith as Rotary Student of the Month at its Sept. 4 meeting.

Her honors at Eupora High School include highest academic average (7th-11th grade), Woodmen of the World History Award (8th grade), Merit Student (9th-11th grade), selected as “Most Likely to Succeed” in Who’s Who awards (10th grade), Electric Power Association Youth Leadership Conference and EPA Youth Leadership Tour in Washington (11th grade).

Madison’s activities have included Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Biology Club, Envirothon, Math Competition, Science Bowl, Annual Staff and Homecoming maid.

She has been a cheerleader since the sixth grade at EHS, which won the state championship the past two years, and received the Cheerleading Leadership Award as a junior. Madison chose Lyn Blaylock, who is cheerleading coach, as Teacher of the Month.

Mission work is important to Madison, who has been to Haiti the past two summers with her youth group from Walthall Baptist.

She plans to major in pre-pharmacy at the University of Mississippi.
