From Staff Reports
Webster County School District board members are considering issuing a note to finance construction costs at East Webster High School’s campus in Cumberland.
Superintendent Jack Treloar, on Aug. 14, recommended the board adopt a resolution of intent to issue a note to provide a means of financing the construction costs pending reimbursement of FEMA, MEMA and insurance. Construction of a new school building is under way to replace the one destroyed by a tornado in 2011.
The board tabled the resolution until October, according to minutes of the meeting and the central office. Treloar told the Progress- Times that the note would not result in a tax increase.
Other Business Also upon Treloar’s recommendation, the board approved the amended Task Order 4 with H20 Partners, which was tabled at the previous meeting.
Additionally, the School Board approved Treloar’s recommendation to approve an ad valorem request of $2.28 million for the 2012-13 school year.
Treloar presented a request from Calisse Bell Harville to have the 90- acre 16th Section lease in the name of her deceased uncle, A.L. Bell, changed over to her name. This request was tabled at a previous meeting.
After some discussion, the board voted to offer Harville a 3-acre lease that will include the house located at 4226 Old Walthall Road and was part of Bell’s original lease, and to reclassify the remaining 87 acres in forestland.
