Christmas Market planning meeting The Christmas Market is coming along! Anyone interested in serving during the weekend of events is asked to come to the next meeting, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m., at the Eupora Depot.

The theme for this year is “Let Freedom Ring with the Bells of Christmas.”

Mathiston Civic League shirt sale The Civic League of Mathiston is conducting a T-shirt sale fund- raiser. The shirt will be royal blue and the design located on the back of the shirt is lime green, yellow and orange. Sizes available are youth through adult 5X. Youth sizes are $10 and adult sizes are $12. The Southern Belle shirt has a theme that comes from the country song “My Town” by Montgomery Gentry. It also expresses members’ faith, their love for family and fun.

School Board qualifying period Circuit Clerk Deborah Hood Neal announces that the qualifying period for Webster County School Board members, districts 3 and 4, is under way.

The deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 7 to be placed on the November general election ballot. Contact the circuit clerk’s office at 258-6287 if any questions.

Gospel singing A gospel music jubilee will be Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Gore Springs Community Center. Admission is $5. Performing will be Ricky Mabry, the Laymen Quartet, Voices of Faith, Boundless Love and others.

Friends of the Library The regular meeting of Friends of the Library, Eupora, will be Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m.

Dylan Karges of the Mississippi State University Archaeology Department will present the program.

Tomnolen Water Association annual meeting Sept. 10 The Tomnolen Water Association’s annual meeting will be Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Tomnolen Fire Department.

Weight Watchers Weight Watchers is starting a new class beginning the week of Sept. 17 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora, in the hospital’s Education Room 1, 70 Medical Plaza. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

The Mississippi Department of Education is offering its employees a discount. Please call Amy Thomas at 1-800-289-8446 for a voucher. There’s no deadline for a community member to join Weight Watchers. NMMC employees can register from Sept. 7 at 8:30 a.m. through noon Sept. 13, in order to receive the employee discount.

FM 108 Day 2013 FM 108 Day will be Sept. 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the campus of French Camp Academy.

The day will feature fun, food, fellowship, door prize and a silent auction. Singing starts at 9 a.m., featuring local performers including Legacy of Faith, Joyful Noise, Master’s Quartet, David Timms and more.

Benefit for Joyce Pittman A drawing is scheduled for an H&R .35 Whelen Handi-Rifle with a 3x9x40 Nikon scope to benefit Joyce Pittman.

Tickets are $5 each or three for $10. The drawing will take place at the Eupora Homecoming game on Oct. 5 at halftime.

Story Hour Story Hour at the Maben Public Library is every Friday at 10 a.m. Come enjoy stories, music and other fun learning experiences for ages 3 to 6.

Story Time Story Time at Webster County Public Library in Eupora is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend and enjoy stories and activities.

AA meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.

Church Walthall Baptist supper Sept. 8 Walthall Baptist Church will have a barbecue rib and grilled chicken supper Sept. 8, at 5 p.m.

Lollars Grove Baptist revival Lollars Grove Baptist Church will have revival services Sept. 9-12. Sunday services will be 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Monday through Wednesday services will be nightly at 7.

The Rev. Nathan Hamilton, pastor of New Faith Baptist Church in Pontotoc County, will be the evangelist, and the music will be under the direction of the Lollars Grove music director, Gina Bell. The church invites everyone to come worship.

Sapa Baptist revival services Sapa Baptist Church will have revival services Sept. 9-12. The Rev. Bill Holcomb from Heber Springs, Ark., will conduct the services. Chris and Karen Ray will be in charge of the music.

Sunday services will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Monday-Wednesday services will be at 7 p.m. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall following the Sunday morning service and finger foods will be served at the close of the Wednesday night service. Pleasant Hill M.B. Church will host its annual Family and Friends’ Day Celebration at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 9. The speaker will be the Rev. Arthur Farmer, pastor of Lindsey Spring and New Pleasant Spring M.B. churches. The theme will be “Growing Together in the Spirit of Unity.”

Mathiston Church of God car show Mathiston Church of God will host a car show on Sept. 15.

Registration will be from 9-11 a.m. Trophies will be given at 3 p.m. for Best Car, Best Truck, Best Modified, Best Engine, Best Sound and Longest Distance Traveled.

The show will feature classic cars and trucks, muscle cars, rat rods, originals and modifieds. Grilled food and snow cones will be available in an air-conditioned waiting area.

The entry fee is $20. All proceeds go to the church building fund.

Maben Church of God Maben Church of God, 3965 Crowley Drive, invites all youth to a Youth Celebration starting at 10 a.m. Sept. 15 and 16.

Saturday’s activities will feature a waterslide and games, and a cookout from 2-6 p.m. The celebration will continue Sunday with speaking and singing by Lewis Maples Jr. and his sister, Lindsey Maples, from Lucedale.
