The Webster County School Board has approved emergency roof repairs at an elementary school.
On Aug. 7, Benny Wolfe of H20 Partners recommended the board declare an emergency status for the roof at Eupora Elementary School in order to expedite repairs and stop any further water damage.
After some discussion, according to minutes of that meeting, the board approved the recommendation.
Wolfe also presented an amended task order for the board’s approval that includes the Qualified School Construction Bonds projects and a contract extension to 12 months instead of six. The board voted to table its decision, records show.
Superintendent Jack Treloar recommended revision to the “Expense Reimbursement” and “Special Programs for Gifted Students” policies. The board approved the revisions, which had been tabled at the previous board meeting..
In another matter that was tabled at the previous meeting, Trey Rolison, Eupora Elementary School principal, met with the board to request the selling of discount cards to be used at local businesses as a fundraiser for the school. The board approved the request.
Also approved was the hiring of Susan Fulgham as a teacher at East Webster Elementary School, effective Aug. 8. The board approved a recommendation from Treloar to increase the contracts of Sue Ann Boatman, Eupora Elementary school counselor, and Kelly Powell, East Webster Elementary school counselor, to 200 days a year.
Consent Agenda These items were approved as a part of the Consent Agenda, according to the Aug. 7 minutes:
• approved the salary of Mindy Pennick, Eupora High School interpreter, for the 2012-13 school year, to be paid through the an interpreter grant and International Deaf Education Association allocation. • approved Brandi Johnson as a long-term substitute teacher at Eupora Elementary, beginning Aug. 8. • approved Judy Smith as math coach at EES for 90 days. • approved the district’s Special Education Project for 2012-13. • approved 29 individuals as substitute teachers for 2012-13. • approved fundraisers for the Eupora High School annual staff. • approved the pay scale for substitute bus drivers, bus drivers/ routes/salaries and Ted Cole as a substitute bus driver for 2012-13. • approved bus turnarounds for 2012-13. • declared a manual payment for East Webster High School to Gulf States Manufacturers for $28,013. • accepted the resignation of Leigh McLendon, EES cafeteria manager, effective July 27. • approved the hiring/transfer of Amy Broadhead as EES cafeteria manager. • approved the hiring of Judy Thompson as part-time janitor at EWHS, beginning Aug. 8.
Scott Hollenhead (District 4) and Keith Hudspeth (District 5) were absent.
