The Webster County School Board has awarded contracts for work at the new field house at East Webster High School in Cumberland.
Benny Wolfe, representative of H20 Partners, presented plumbing, electrical and HVAC quotes for the new EWHS field house on July 17; minutes show that two of each were submitted.
The board approved Wolfe’s recommendations to hire McMinn Plumbing, Rowland Electric and Baker & Sons (HVAC), and have the superintendent sign the contracts. McMinn ($22,981.55), Rowland (36,000) and Baker & Sons ($35,000) had the lower quotes for each job.
Consent Agenda Board members, upon the recommendation of Superintendent Jack Treloar, approved/accepted these items as a part of the consent agenda, according to the minutes:
• donations from the Eupora High School cheerleader boosters to the EHS cheerleaders ($1,000) from the Eupora Eagle football boosters to the EHS football program ($4,000) and from Curstis Ford to the EHS basketball program (television, DVD player/VCR and dry-erase board). • Sisters Photography for school pictures at East Webster Elementary School for 2012-13. • Kellie Johnson to transfer from full-time cafeteria worker to a substitute. • Christine Tolmie as a full-time cafeteria work at EWES. • the resignation of Jimmy Carden as a teacher at EWHS, effective June 29. • Shed Shaw as a bus driver beginning Aug. 1 • the hiring of Leslie Frank as Eupora Elementary School interventionist beginning Aug. 1. • the hiring of Kaley Rico as EHS teacher/softball coach, beginning Aug. 1. • substitute bus drivers for 2012-13. • a fundraiser for EHS cheerleaders.
Other Business Additionally, Treloar presented a personnel action from EES Principal Trey Rolison recommending Alisha Halford be hired as a teacher beginning Aug. 1. The recommendation was approved 3-2, with Etty Brown (District 3) and Nancy Davis (District 2) voting nay.
EHS Principal Lacie Knight recommended that Lowell Hitt be hired as a teacher beginning Aug. 1, which was approved. The board accepted the resignations of EWHS teacher Brandi Burton, effective July 16, and EWES teacher Lisa Wofford, effective July 31.
The board approved recommendations from EWHS Principal Bill Brand to hire April Acker as a teacher beginning Aug. 1, to hire Jason Smith as a teacher and assistant football coach beginning Aug. 1, and to increase the number of days on the teaching contract for Carol Berryhill from 187 to 200 days.
Also approved was a manual check of $1,850 to Kimberly Wilkinson for landscaping work done at EWHS.
