Allene Nason Yates Aug. 3, 2012 Graveside services for Allene Nason Yates, 97, of Shelby were Aug. 5, 2012, at the Shelby Cemetery.

She was born March 7, 1915, in Tomnolen to the late Mabel Reed Nason and Dr. Allen Richard Nason. Mrs. Yates graduated from Delta State University and received her master’s degree from the University of Mississippi. She taught school at Mathiston, Cleveland, Shelby, Duncan and retired from the Clarksdale schools. Memberships included Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Colonial Wars, Daughters of the American Colonists, Delta Kappa Gamma, Bowie Family Historical Society, Bolivar County Historical Society, Missouri Historical Society, Tennessee Historical Society and Delta Council. She died Aug. 3, 2012, in Jackson.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Watt Yates III of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and Dr. Allen Richard Yates of Jackson; three grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Carl Johnson

Mr. Carl Johnson, 60, passed away Saturday, July 28,, 2012 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. Visitation was held Sunday, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home. Funeral services were Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Irvin, and Rev. Ricky Magee officiating. Interment was at Mt. Moriah Cemetery at Webster Co. MS.

Mr. Johnson for a Forestry Instructor, and a member of Ackerman Baptist Church at Ackerman, MS.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, W.O. and Juanita Johnson; and a brother, Johnny Roberts.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Evelyn Smith Johnson, Eupora, MS; 2 sons, Bill and wife, Jada Johnson, Ackerman, MS, and Joey and wife, Tonya Johnson, Weir, MS; 1 sister, Pat Holmes, Eupora, MS; 1 brother, Earl and wife, Carolyn Johnson, Selmer, TN; and 3 grandchildren, Camden Johnson, Raina Johnson, and Kiptyn Johnson.

Pallbearers were Robert Black, Wilbur Chancellor, Leon Holmes, John Magyar, Benton Nail, Mike Pearson, Robert Toobs, and Van Johnson.

Mrs. Faye McFall Swindle

Mrs. Faye McFall Swindle, 81, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS. Visitation was Tuesday, July 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home. She lay in state at the church for 1 hour prior to the service. Funeral services were Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Guess, Rev. Danny Swindle, and Rev. Danny Bryant officiating. Interment was at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery at Choctaw County.

Mrs. Swindle was the owner/operator of Swindle Grocery, and she was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church at Choctaw County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rexal Swindle; and a son, Herman A. Morris.

She is survived by two sons, Wade (Patti) Swindle, Eupora, MS, and Don (Brenda) Swindle, Mathiston, MS; one step-daughter, Billie Davis Morris, Sikeston, MO; one daughter-in-law, Judy Morris, Eupora, MS; one sister, Nelda (James) McFall Boone, Kenneth, MO; 9 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchilld.

Pallbearers were Steve Walker, John Swindle, Lee Swindle, Andy McCool, Michael Holmes, and Shawn Morris. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Gore and Buddy Maddox. Memorial may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Rey “Sean” Martinez

Rey “Sean” Martinez, 65, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at his home in the Montevista Community.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gregorio Martinez.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Martina Martinez; 2 daughters, Desiree Nicole Martinez and Elizabeth DeAnn Wright; a son-in-law, Bubba Wright; 5 grandchildren, Gabrielle Martinez, Savannah Gore, Patrick Scott, Isabella Scott, and Maci Wright; 2 sisters, Gracie Montanez and Mary Hill; 3 brothers, John Martinez, Greg Martinez, and Mario Martinez.

A memorial will be held at Montevista Baptist Church on August, 11, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. to Celebrate his Life. PAID OBITUARY

Mrs. Frances Theresa Evans Boatman

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Theresa Evans Boatman of Stewart were held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Reed’s Chapel Cemetery near Stewart. Mr. John White and Mr. Roger Mitchell officiated the services. Visitation was Friday, from 2:00 until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boatman died of Alzheimer’s disease at her home on Thursday, July 26. She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Boatman was the daughter of the late George and Alice Quinn Evans and the widow of the late Virgil Lee Boatman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, Restored, in Stewart. She was also preceded in death by a son, V. H. Boatman.

Survivors include five daughters, Theresa Bridges, Patsy White, Verita Hathcock, Thelma Dees, and Delma Mitchell, all of Stewart; one son, George W. Boatman of Stewart; three sisters, Helen Crothers of Jackson, Ann Harrington of Jackson, and Carol Lacey of Brookhaven; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Chad Bridges, John White, William White, Terry Mitchell, Benford Dees, Lee Hathcock, Levi Hathcock, and Ryan Richardson. Honorary pallbearer Micah Dees.

Edward Wayne Vaughan

Edward Wayne Vaughan, 86, passed away on July 31, 2012. Growing up a farmer, he attended Maben High School. With the Navy taking him from the classroom, his mother accepted his high school diploma on his behalf while he was serving overseas. Wayne was a sailor in WW II where he served in Okinawa and Battle of the Philippine Islands. He was a carpenter for several years before working for the Housing Department at Mississippi State University for over 20 years. He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duff and Velma Vaughan; and his wife of 58 years, Martha Lou Shurden Vaughan.

He is survived by his two sons, Gary Wayne Vaughan (Beverly) and Don Rodney Vaughan (Sharon); his sister, Katheleen Vaughan Carlson; brother-in-law, Elton Shurden (Ruby); grandchildren, Rockford Wayne Vaughan (Ellie), Victoria Noelle Vaughan, Quintin Kyle Vaughan, Paul Benjamin Vaughan; and great grandson, Ryder Wayne Vaughan.

Visitation was Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services were Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Center Grove Baptist Church in Maben, MS. Burial was in the Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Randle Poss conducted the service.

Thomas Upton Blaylock, Jr.

Thomas Upton Blaylock, Jr. was born in Webster County on April 4, 1932 to the late Thomas Upton Blaylock, Sr. and Lillie Wess Pittman Blaylock and died at home on July 30, 2012.

Thomas graduated from Springhill High Shool and was a lifetime resident of Webster County. He was a, dedicated church leader, employee, and community member who loved his family.

As a Deacon of First Baptist Church Eupora, Thomas helped to organize the Men’s Prayer Breakfast and worked in the adult and youth department for over 30 years. In 1993, Thomas retired from Futorian Manufacturing after 35 years of service. He was a past president and longtime member of the Lions Club International.

Thomas loved gospel music and began singing as a young boy. He continued singing throughout his life, and his distinctive bass voice was heard in gospel quartets and church choirs for many years.

“Pop”, as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, loved sports and followed his children and grandchildren through many seasons. At local sporting events, it was possible that he could be seen, but guaranteed that he was always heard! He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Blaylock.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bobbie Middleton Blaylock; daughter, Sandra Blaylock of Baton Rouge, LA; son, Stan Blaylock and wife, Lyn of Eupora; and grandchildren, Brad, Parker, and Greer Blaylock, all of Eupora; and one sister, Peggy Blaylock Ingram of West Point, MS.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eupora, Rev. Travis Gray, Charles McClellan, and Brad Blaylock, officiating, with burial in the Webster Memorial Garden Cemetery in  Webster County.

Pallbearers were Glenn Booth, Tommy Gladney, Pat Hyde, Charles McClellan, Jason Simpson, Jr. and Lloyd Young. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Ingram, Herb Ingram, Phil Ingram, Deacons and Choir Members of the Eupora First Baptist Church.
