Special to the Progress-Times
Eupora First United Methodist Church is gearing up for what is quickly becoming one of its most exciting summer traditions … namely “Worship on the Water.”
Last year was the first time that the church moved one of its Sunday morning worship services to the shores of Whites Creek Lake for a day of fun and worship that the whole family could enjoy — in swimsuits.
“As the church, we are constantly looking for ways to celebrate our families and find ways to get everyone, especially the kids, excited about worship,” explained the Rev. Trey Harper, pastor, thus the idea for an outdoor worship service was embraced and “Worship on the Water” was born.
This year’s service will be Sunday, Aug. 12.
“Last year we did it at the beginning of the summer as a way to kick off the more casual worship style that we enjoy in the summer months,” said Harper. “This year, we decided to use it as a fun way to kick off the new school year and celebrate the new church year as well.”
A family breakfast will be served beginning at 9 a.m. in the main pavilion at Whites Creek Lake; followed by worship, led by the EFUMC Praise Team beginning at 10:30 a.m. “It’s a day of good food, great fun in the park and in the lake, as well as some powerful worship. What better way to say ‘goodbye to summer’ than by celebrating your family with a day on the lake,” Harper said.
The public is invited and encouraged to come and worship. For more information contact the church office at 258-2611.
