4-H club, adults ‘Outwalk Obesity’

Special to the Progress-Times

The Controllers Generation II 4-H Club, in conjunction with Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and other area churches, had its monthly “Outwalk Obesity” from Larry’s Restaurant to West Oktibbeha County High School on July 22 at 6 p.m.

Upon arrival at the school, prayer was led by Raymond Poe Jr. After the group of approximately 30 exercised, the children and adults broke off into their sessions.

The adult session, “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” learning to improve financial health, increase wealth and make wise consumer choices, was conducted by Grenell Rogers, Rose Coffey-Graham and Lora Hogan.

The children’s session, “Violence is Preventable,” a program providing activities on violence, anger and conflict, was conducted by Minister Franco Shields and James Coffey Jr.

After the group assembled back together, Alana Graham did the summary for the children and Mary Jones did the summary for the adults.

The next meeting will be Aug. 20 following the walk from Larry’s to the school at 6 p.m. The adult workshop will be “Finding Extra Income” and the children workshop will be “FREE (focus, restate, empathize and explore solutions) Listening.”
