From Press Reports
North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora hosted two students during the summer months as part of the Summer Student Nurse Externship Program.
Both students are enrolled in registered nurse programs and have completed one year of their program. They were paired with a preceptor and allowed to work alongside this RN in order gain experience and knowledge.
The program focuses on allowing student nurses the opportunity to gain experience and focus on a variety of patients they might not come in contact with during normal clinical rotations in school. This is the second year NMMC-Eupora has participated in this program.
The student nurses this year were Dixie Devin, who is enrolled in the BSN program at Mississippi University for Women, and Ashley Peavy, who is enrolled in the associate’s degree program at Holmes Community College.
NMMC-Eupora routinely has students who come and participate in clinical rotations with their schools of nursing. East Mississippi Community College as well as Holmes Community College have students participate in clinical rotations during their course of study as well as many of those students attend preceptorship here and the end of their program before graduation.
