Starkville Tea Party meeting Starkville Tea Party supporters and other concerned citizens are encouraged to attend the monthly STP meeting from 3-4:30 p.m. July 28.
Jeppie Barbour, former mayor of Yazoo City and current Mississippi GOP activist, will be the speaker. He will be helping to set up grassroots organizations in Mississippi to support Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
The meeting will be at the Golden Triangle Planning and Development District, 106 Miley Road, Starkville. Refreshments will be served.
Benefit for Sonny Akins A benefit for Sonny Akins will be July 28 at Clarkson Baptist Church. Hamburger and hot dog plates with baked beans, chips, drink and dessert will be available at 11 a.m. An auction will be noon followed by a concert by the Josh Buford Band.
EHS ’50s get- together reunion A ’50s get-together will be July 28 at 2 p.m. at Eupora First Baptist Church Family Life Center to reminisce about old times and to talk about the last 50+ years.
This includes classes of 1950-59 or even if you didn’t graduate. Bring yourself and spouse or guest and some finger food. The committee will furnish cold drinks; donations will be received for the expenses.

Country music jamboree July 28 A country music jamboree will be at 6 p.m. July 28 at the Gore Springs Community Center. The jamboree will feature Ronald Pollan, Darrell Adams and Heroes, Hubert Sanders and Valley Echoes, Tyanne Newsom, Richard McLaughlin and others. Admission is $5.
Gospel singing The McMillians of New Albany, Joyful Noise of Greenwood and the Crouches of Winona will perform at 7 p.m. July 28 at the Stewart Fire Department. A love offering will be received for the groups. More information: 418-6454.
NASA workshop Webster County 4-H is hosting a NASA summer workshop.
Children who participate in NASA’s Summer of Innovation Camp will conduct experiments and perform activities related to air pressure, density, astronomy, gravity, robotics and the solar system.
These last workshop is 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 30. Call the Extension Office at 258-3971 by July 27 to reserve your spot. The workshop costs $5 and is open to youth in fourth through ninth grades.
Retired Education Personnel meeting The Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi-Oktibbeha, Webster and Choctaw counties will meet at 1 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Mathiston Public Library. Tackle football registration The city of Eupora will have tackle football registration for children grades 3-6 Aug. 1-3 at the Community Center. Registration will be from 3-6 p.m. and the cost is $125 a child. Questions? Call the park director at 552-2529.
Benefit for Sandra Smith A benefit for Sandra Smith, who is battling cancer, will be Aug. 4 at the Woodmen of the World lodge in Eupora starting at 11 a.m.
It will include an auction, music, a cake sale, food and raffles. A camouflage Mossberg 100 ATR .30-06 with a 4x16x44 tactical scope and a 9mm Luger pistol will be given away at the benefit.
Sandra Perrigan Smith is the twin sister of Sara Abbott and the wife of Buddy Smith. She is now faced with a new round of cancer.

Leroy Clark benefit A matching fund benefit to help the family of the late Leroy Clark with medical expenses is being sponsored by the Modern Woodmen of America. Mr. Clark died of lung cancer.
The benefit will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Poplar Creek Fire Department. It will include an auction at 3 p.m., singing, cake and toy walk, country store, 50/50 cash drawing and more. Hamburger and hot dog plates will be available, and raffle tickets are being sold for an oak rocking chair and Winchester Model 1300 12-gauge shotgun.

VFW cakewalk Ladies Auxiliary to Joe H. Morehead VFW Post 3806 will be having a back-to-school cakewalk Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. at the post home on VFW Road.
The post will have school supplies and something for the sweet tooth as well. All proceeds will go toward the Ladies Auxiliary programs for the new year. Military Assistance Program, Hospital/VAVS, cancer aid and research, Americanism and scholarship programs.
Henley reunion, Sapa Homecoming The annual Henley family reunion and Sapa Homecoming will be at the Eupora Country Club on Aug. 5 beginning at 10 a.m.
Everyone come, bring a dish and have fun visiting. Lunch will be served at noon.
EHS open house Eupora High School will host an open house on Aug. 6 from 5-6:30 p.m. Students and parents are encouraged to attend in order to meet teachers for the upcoming school year.

• Aug. 23: The Potter’s Hand Lee Ann Williamson, Christian World Missions, will use the potter’s wheel to illustrate not only how to make pottery but also in what ways the techniques apply to how we are shaped throughout life.
