Benefit for Paul Peacock A benefit for William “Paul” Peacock for medical expenses for lymphoma will be June 9 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Stewart Fire Department. Benefit for Eddie Bowles
A benefit for Eddie Bowles will be June 16 at the Tomnolen Fire Department beginning at 5 p.m. Pulled-pork sandwiches with baked beans, slaw and drink will be sold for $6 each, and a cakewalk will begin at 6 p.m. Chances on a $100 bill will also be sold for $1 each.
Bowles has been diagnosed with a rare form of Stage IV kidney cancer, which has spread throughout his entire pelvic region including his adrenal glands, lymph nodes, tailbone, hip bone and spine. The cancer has also caused a fracture in his back.
He is preparing for radiation chemotherapy and surgery to remove his kidney, and will be required to make multiple trips to Jackson for appointments and procedures.

Kids in the Kitchen If you’re a kid and you’re looking for something fun this summer, check out Kids in the Kitchen. This class is specially designed for kids ages 8 to 14. Kids in the Kitchen is an action-packed class where kids learn to cook great tasting food and learn how to make fitness a fun part of their life. It will be June 19-20 at the Webster County Extension office from 9 a.m.-noon each day. The program is free, but pre-registration is required and space is limited to the first 20 students. Mobile WIN Job Center visits The Mobile WIN Job Center will set up shop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 21 at the former Garan factory on Highway 9 South in Eupora. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security’s mobile unit is a valuable tool for job searches, creating and updating resumes, and other services.
Online Couponing Session June 25 An Online Couponing Session by Dale Jordon of MSU Extension will be at 5:15 p.m. June 25 at the Webster County Extension Office. This program will help people change the way they shop. With the cost of living going up it is important to find ways to save money. “Couponing” is a great way to get more bang for your buck.
This free program will teach people where to find and print coupons by using their computer. They will also learn how to use their smartphone to save money. Call the Webster County Extension Office at 258-3971 by June 21 to register.
Maben Library Reading Program Maben Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is “Dream Big, Own the Night.” The program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings and more.
