Raffle tickets at Maben FM

By Jane Collins, Manager Maben Farmers’ Market

MABEN — The Farmers’ Market at Maben, which is sponsored by the Maben Chamber of Commerce, has added a chamber raffle for a Remington automatic 12-gauge shotgun.

Chances are being sold each week at the market for $2 each or three chances for $5. See Nellie Blade for your chance to win the shotgun to be given away at the Market on Aug. 25.

Through the week chances may be purchased from any Chamber of Commerce member including Dew’s Place, Cadence Bank, Joe’s Tire and Service Center, and other locations.

Other reasons to shop the Maben Market on Saturdays from 7-10 a.m. include the beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables from William Shaw; delicious barbecued pork ribs, pulled pork and smoked chicken quarters from Danny Akers (a ServSafe dealer); Fulgham Pork Rinds sold by Vanessa Fulgham; baby chicks and feed sold by the Nason brothers; cakes and fried pies brought by Noxapater Catering; hand sewn-quilts, placemats, dishcloths and hot pads sold by Cherry Street Quilts; homemade cupcakes and other goodies sold by Caroline’s Cupcakes; and three flea market vendors: Dolly Hollingsworth from Maben, Mildred Miller from McCool and Linda Early from Mathiston. Many of these vendors can be found on Facebook.

The winner of the cash drawing for $30 was Ann Freshour of Longview community. Shoppers are given one chance to win the cash prize each week for every $5 they spend with one of the vendors. Vendors are charged $5 for a 10’ x 10’ space to set up for the Market.

This money is used for the cash prize incentive each week. Vendors must fill out a one-time registration form to participate, they must set up and be ready to sell by 7 a.m., and they must stay at least until 10 a.m., but may stay set up on the lot as long as they wish past 10 a.m. We welcome new vendors every week, and encourage farmers to bring their fresh produce to sell.

The Maben Farmers’ Market is a non-profit enterprise that seeks to bring folks from the surrounding communities together for friendly shopping in the shade.
