Dewitt Gilliam May 11, 2012 Services for Dewitt Gilliam, 84, of Starkville were May 14, 2012, at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman with the Rev. Jerry Lawson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Choctaw County to the late James Russell and Mattie Ballard Gilliam. Mr. Gilliam was retired from Gulf States Manufacturing and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He died May 11, 2012, at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Frances Pitts Gilliam of Starkville; two sons, John Gilliam of Frisco, Texas, and Steve Gilliam of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Laura Jordan of Starkville; a sister, Mary Metts of Louisville; five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Burial was in Spring Valley Cemetery. He was born April 20, 1946, to Velma and the late Hulen Richard Tomlinson in Starkville. Mr. Tomlinson had perfect attendance from first grade all the way to the twelfth grade. He died May 8, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora. Richard Owen Harris Jr., 60, of Mathiston, MS passed away on Monday May 7, 2012 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Mr. Harris was born on January 5, 1952 in Webster County to Mrs. Martha Harris and the late Mr. Richard Owen Harris. Mr. Harris was a Truck Driver in the Logging industry and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Choctaw. Mr. Harris is survived by one son, William Richard Harris of Carrolton; two daughters, Amanda Shields of Mathiston and Karen Abbot of Ackerman; one brother, David Harris of Reform; and five sisters, Judy Hood of Ackerman, Rachel Bell of Maben, June Brooks of Mathiston, Sherry Kelley of Mathiston, and Jerry Wilson of Louisville. Mr. Harris is also survived by four grandchildren, Triston Abbot, Anna Shields, Mackenzie Abbot, and Sabrina Shields. Funeral Services for Mr. Harris were held at 3 PM on Thursday May 10, 2012 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Choctaw County with Bro. Ralph Cain and Bro Rob Faulk officiating. Mrs. Daisy Latham Anthony, 80, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at her residence in Columbus, MS. Visitation was held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. with Elder Ed Easley, and Elder David Blair officiating. Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Webster Co. MS. Mrs. Anthony was a homemaker and an Asst. Manager of Freds Retail. She was also a member of Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church at Oktibbeha Co. MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cayce Anthony; and a brother, James C. Latham. She is survived by a daughter, Jean (Mel) Anthony Pekofsky, Columbus, MS; a son, Billy W. (Gena) Anthony, Columbus, MS; three brothers, Thomas Earl Latham, Eupora, MS, Hays Latham, Palatka, FL, and Bobby Latham, Eupora, MS; four grandchildren, Stephen Joseph Swetz, Michael Anthony Swetz, Laura L. Black, and Reagan E. (Josh) Pounders; five great-grandchildren, Stephen, Alissa, and Ethan Black, Haven Swetz, and Camryn Golson.
