MABEN — There was not a cloud in the sky, but that did not keep the little kids from looking April 13 at the Maben Public Library Story Hour. Ms. Mary had chosen “It Looked Spilt Milk” by Charles G. Shaw as the book-de-jour for the kids’ delight. All the pages had white pictures for them to identify: squirrel, owl, angel, dove. In the end though it was just a cloud; so nothing to do but have Ms. Mary bring out the shaving cream and squirt some on each child’s page. With one finger, they each drew images in the cream. Next they folded the page and mashed down; voila, out popped all kinds of images: buffalos, mountains glasses, and a heart. Imagination is good to have. The most fun was when Ms. Mary just squirted the shaving cream on the table and everybody played in it. WHAT FUN! After everyone chose the Dum-Dum of their choice, they all trooped outside to look for clouds. ALAS! None were to be found. Oh, well. Out came the sidewalk chalk and the grandparents drew on the walk and the kids played chase, which is much more fun. After a while, they all scrambled back inside to check out books for the next week.
