Luminaria ceremony highlights Relay

A special luminaria ceremony will highlight Webster County’s fourth Relay for Life on Friday. Jonathan Holmes, the master of ceremonies, will introduce all participants in the program, which will begin at 9 p.m. The Rev. Mike Ramage will give the invocation, followed by Tracy Palmer, who will sing “He Will Carry You.” Then, Holmes and Dan Burchfield will read the memorial names with Jacqueline Meek and Corey Murphy ringing the bell between each name. Scott Edwards will next speak as a health care provider and family support member; then speaking as a cancer survivors, Don Parish will share his experiences as well as give preventive measures that may save lives. The message as the ceremony ends is one of HOPE. The survivors’ names will be read; and Jo and David Faulkenbery will sing “Peace in the Shelter of his Arms” as survivors, caregivers and other family members honor loved ones by silently walking around the track.
