With hiring on the rise and more than 50 employers set to participate, East Mississippi Community College is anticipating one of its best regional job fairs next week. The East Mississippi Job Fair will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Lyceum auditorium on EMCC’s Golden Triangle campus in Mayhew. As always, the Lyceum will be a flurry of résumé exchanges, impromptu interviews and business attire. Local, statewide and national employers will be on hand, but don’t come late, warns EMCC District Director of Job Placement Linda Gates, because employers want time to evaluate candidates and vendors will depart at 2:30 p.m. “All indications are the economy is turning around. Now is the perfect time to see what career opportunities are available as employers are eager to visit with job candidates. Also, if someone wants to retool to be more competitive in today’s marketplace, there will be a wide variety of options to review, ranging from a few weeks to several years,” Gates said. The list of employers already signed up to participate can be viewed on the Community Events Calendar on EMCC’s website, www.eastms.edu. It includes local industries such as American Eurocopter, Ellis Steel, Mississippi State University and OCH Regional Medical Center; statewide employers like Mississippi Power; and nationwide entities such as the Transportation Security Administration and United Blood Services. A wealth of additional resources can be found on EMCC’s website, including a Job Fair Survival Guide. East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus is at 8731 S. Frontage Road in Mayhew, off U.S. 45 Alternate. Questions? Call Linda Gates at (662) 243-1978 or e-mail email@example.com.
