School Board honors student

The Webster County School Board honored its student of the month on April 3, according to minutes of the meeting. Phil Ferguson, director of the Webster County Career and Technology Center, introduced Jeremy Patridge as the Webster County Board of Education Student of the Month for April. In other business, minutes show the board voted to go into executive session to discuss student discipline; no action was taken. The board tabled its decision on a revised version of the “Use of School Facilities” policy. Consent Agenda These items were approved or accepted as a part of the Consent Agenda: • the resignation of Kelly Westmoreland, East Webster Elementary School teacher, effective March 26. • Cynthia Williams as a long-term substitute teacher beginning April 4. • Kristin Williams as a substitute teacher for the remainder of the 2011-12 school year. • a resolution acknowledging and congratulating the East Webster High School bowling team for winning the 2011-12 state 2A championship. Team members are Brett Brock, Austin Cunningham, Dustin Emfinger, Jacob Frost, Joel Naron, Austin Raybourne, Cruz Winfield, Scott Winfield and Drew Wofford; and the coach is Christian “Boo” Jones. • a resolution acknowledging and congratulating the Career and Technology Center’s Family Career and Community Leaders of America for being state winners in the 2012 FCCLA state competition. Members are Kintera Ashford, Latorya Pittman, Brooke Burton, Sarah Mitchell, Brittany Owensby and Crystal Stevens; and the instructor is Janice Gardner. Additionally, the School board tabled its decision on approval of H2O Partners’ Task Order No. 3.
